Peavey 1x12 and 2x12 Cabinets

Post by rbcarleton » Sun May 05, 2013 5:59 pm

I was curious if Peavey sells 1x12 or 2x12 guitar cabinets? It doesn't look like it, judging from:

Home > Products > Instrument Amplifiers > Guitar Amplifiers > Cabinets

Are they buried somewhere else in the product offerings? I did some google searches and didn't turn up anything. I can understand that folks looking for 1x12 or 2x12 configurations are probably satisfied to buy that in combo form.

Thanks,

--Bruce
The 6 string guitar is the roadster of the guitars. It's fast, agile and fun. The bass guitar is more like a muscle car. It can move out too, but it's more about power.

they make a 112 extension cabinet for the vypyr series. it is rated 40 watts.

you should be able to find a Classic 212 extension cabinet (looks like the old Wiggy cab). those are rated 150 watts at 16 ohms.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had not noticed the extension cabinet for the vypyr before.

I have the Vypr 112 ext cab and, for the money, it's a good deal, considering that it comes with a speaker in it for $99 to $110 (with free shipping, in some cases) on the net and eBay.

For the bargain price, you have to expect bargain features, such as relatively thin particle board and a sort of rubbery vinyl covering rather than real durable tolex.

They're back loading, the whole back comes off and the speaker is mounted with four screws. The speaker is said to be a Blue Marvel, but is unlabeled with no manufacturing code and I would guess is Chinese made, as the cabinet is.

I have used it as an ext cab with a black C30 and it sounds OK with the C30s Blue Marvel. Again, for $99 to $110 I don't think there's a better deal out there right now.

BTW, it is rated at 16 ohms.

Also look into jncabinets on eBay. I've had him build me a 2x12 and two 1x12 cabs and he does outstanding work in a timely manner at reasonable prices. 7-ply Baltic birch throughout.

Pittsburgh Guitar Center has a Peavey XXL 212 for $174.99. Looked at it yesterday. The tolex need cleaning but it didn't look beat up or have any major rips in it. Didn't hear what it sounds like.

If you can find the SX112, it is an excellent cabinet.

Or you can call the custom shop and they will build what you want.

If you want a new one made in Meridian, MS, check out a Budda cabinet.

Can anyone share their experiences with the Peavey Custom Shop. They list some cabinet options:

I had the Peavey Custom Shop build two speaker cabinets for me. I also have the MasterPiece 50 and the 1.5U7 (currently the Studio Special). I bought both amps used and had the speaker cabinets custom made to my specifications. If you search my posts, you will find photos of the 212 and 115 cabinet.

The quality of construction is top notch better than any other cabinets I have ever purchased. The guys in the Custom Shop will do anything you want. If there is an old Peavey speaker cabinet that you liked, let them know and they will build it for you.

The pricing is good for what you are buying. They are not used or made in China cheap, but it will be high quality gear made to your liking.

Ask any questions I will let you know what I can.

How are the prices for the custom shop cabs? I would like to get a 1x15 for my classic 50.
