So Far...Very Impressed on the new ACT Amp

Post by gothmessiah » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:31 am

I am Trying the new ACT Amp with some isolated guitars, i must Say, After the ACT Amp Analyzed (and very quickly i must say) the Recording, i was able to replicate the Sound of Metallica's Wherever i May Roam Guitar Sound.. No Bullshit, i must try other Guitar Iso Tracks to confirm the functionality of the ACT Module.

Has Peavey made a Tutorial on how to Use the ACT AMP and ACT Rack?

I'm also planning on capture the sound of my JSX Amp and hopefully we can share Amp Tones real nicely.

Please comment on your ACT AMP or RACK Experiences.

Thanks Peavey!

Told you it was worth the wait! :D

Have you looked at the documentation file? I think it has been updated. Not really much of a tutorial needed imo.

It's called user guide.

If you are on windows it should be at C:\ProgramData\Peavey Electronics\Revalver 4\userguide.pdf

If you are on mac, i don't know. :D

Thanks!! i've found it.

Strange thing is that it says it wont support Mp3s but i've downloaded isolated guitars in Mp3s format and just change it to WAV extension and seems to be doing its thing, although i cant assure i'm doing it right.

Where can we get Collection of Isolated Guitar tracks? do you know any site?

Thanks!

You do it right. I guess revalver can't do mp3 format because of licensing, so converting the mp3 into another format is a good workaround.

Only borderline illegal sites.
What you could do though, you could try and search youtube for demos of gear and grab some audio from that videos. Although you have the lossy youtube quality then....
I think properly micing up a real amp is the way to go.

Did you actually convert the format of the file or simply change the filename extension from mp3 to wav?

If it's the later then Revalver supports mp3 format, just not in an official, publicly supported way.

No need to look for illegal tracks. You can take any recording of our favorite artist that has a song or a part of it with only guitars (think Smoke on the water intro) and use it as your reference.

I Wonder, how long should a track be to work with the ACT Combo?

I'm wondering what cabinets everyone is using? I would imagine one that is transparent would be what is wanted since we are profiling an amp and a cabinet?

You don't need to add a cab to it. The cab is built in in, hence "combo".

Very good. Some of my tones were a bit buzzy that way but it's probably because I was matching early Van Halen.
