Hi folks-
We're attempting to use CAB io's as part of our overall Cobranet strategy, but are finding that they do not hold their packet assignments on power off. Is there a way to get them to stay smart? It would seem some sort of non volatile storage register would be onboard for this sort of thing, but seemingly not.
Our head end for the system is the Cobranet card from Cirrus Logic mounted in a TiMax system frame. Do we need to add software or some traffic cop hardware to keep these boxes decoding their channel assignments?
thanks in advance for advice.

CAB io in Cobranet System
Re: CAB io in Cobranet System
Hi George,
It is by design that the CAB i/o boxes do not "remember" their assignments. The original intent is that they are always to be told what to do by another device in the system. In this way, if one were to ever fail to operate correctly, it could be easily and simply swapped out by merely adjusting the four digit ID number on the front of the unit and replaced in the rack. According to what you have told us so far, it sounds like you are ONLY using the CAB i/o boxes and do not have a controlling device in the system. This is unfortunate in your case because you are not able to operate the input and output scaling, gain controls, and mute buttons without such a device. Because of this, you are missing out on some of the best features of the CAB i/o boxes.
What have you been using to configure the CAB's Bundle Numbers?
What else is involved in your audio system?
Would you be interested in the ability to add audio digital signal processing to your audio streams? This would allow you to do a number of things including mixing, equalization, filtering, level adjustment, automatic level adjustment, background noise compensation, and a host of other features as well.
Would you be interested in a 7" touch screen that could show you the status of your I/O channels?
Thanks George!
Please let us know more about what you are doing and we will see what we can do to help you.
Thanks!
Josh

+1 on the MM Forum, Josh referred me over there almost a year ago... Posts are few and far between and you have to know some audio basics in order to get around the spam test when posting, but chances are there's someone who can help you out with just about anything MM related... Unless you're using a 15 year old X-Frame like I am but even then they've come up with some good answers for me.
