VSX 26 Horn EQ set up

Post by qcs » Tue Apr 04, 2017 9:24 am

Hello,
I recently moved from a DBX Driverack PA to a VSX26 and am seeking some clarification in setting up the CD horn filter. I’m running a set of DTH1’s over VR218’s powering the DTH1 with a CS2000 and the VR218 with a CS4080 tri-amp.
My first question is how do I determine the turnover frequency? Also, do I need to use a separate filter before the horn EQ for the cut around 3k or does the horn filter include the cut and where is the 12db pad entered?
Thanks
Jim

Hello sir; you do understand that you need three amps to tri-amp? You list only two. The crossover points are listed on the chart you posted. If you are indeed tri-amping go to out put 3 and build the cd horn curve with the parametric. Copy to output 6 . Hope you get comfortable with the vsx , it's a great tool . Good luck :arrow:

Hi Dano,
Thanks for jumping in. Yes 3 way mono. One VR218 on each channel of the 4080 and mids on one channel of the 2000 and highs on the other. I have the crossover set up. Im specifically looking for help with the filters on output 3(44t).
Right now I have filter one as
parametric
freq=1937hz
BW=1.0
level=-6

and filter 2
parametric
freq=15500hz
BW=.6
level=+8
Should I stick with the parametric eqs on filters 1 and 2, or use the horn eq?
If I use the horn eq, what should I enter for the turnover frequency?
Whats the diffence between the horn EQ and a parametric?
Thanks for your help
Jim
