VSX 26 SETTINGS

Post by Sam L » Sun Jun 28, 2015 6:33 am

Hi guys,

I brought a PA system comprises of the following items below for a dj purposes and i am facing one of the worse experience of how to set up the VSX26. after installing it and fired up, the sound was terrible, it was like listening on a radio station from the 80's. the Distributor set up the VSX26 and it was shocking sound. I searched online videos of how to set up this VSX26 but no luck, now this is my first time on this PEAVEY Forum and i pretty sure that there are number of experts out there who can assist me on my system. need you advise guys. :)

2 x SP5BX 15IN PASSIVE SPEAKERS
2 X QW218 SPEAKERS
1 X PEAVEY IPR 2 3000 DSP AMP
1 X PEAVEY IPR 7 5000 DSP AMP
1 X VSX26 SPEAKER MANAGEMENT
1 X PV6 MIXER

wiring diagram given to me by Peavey distributor;

From mixer (PV6) OUTPUT (L) go to VSX26 (B)
OUTPUT (R) go to VSX26 (A)

From VSX26 1 go to input (A) of 5000 DSP AMP
2 go to input (A) of 3000 DSP AMP
3 go to input (B) of 5000 DSP AMP
4 go to input (B) of 3000 DSP AMP

From AMPS 5000 DSP AMP OUTPUT (A) go to QW218
OUTPUT (B) go to QW218

3000 DSP AMP OUTPUT (A) go to SP5BX
OUTPUT (B) go to SP5BX

Im not near my VSX26 right now and cannot answer all of your questions at this time. Regarding the Qw218's, are you using 4 conductor speaker wires to hook them up? These subs have one speaker on +1 -1 and the other on +2 -2. if you are using the wrong cable only one speaker will work.

The output set up for the system is not how mine is set up, but my system is different than yours. I believe the normal is 1,4 for lows, 2,5 for mids, and 3,6 for highs. you stated 1,3 is low, 2,4 for mid/high this does not sound right. I will try and check this evening on how it should be set up for you system

Are your SP=5's Biamp-able? If current then no.

The simplest operation for you right now is:

The DSP channels driving the Subs should be set:L

4th Order (-24 dB L-R) Linkwitz/Riely High Pass (Low Cut) @ 34 Hz

4th Order (-24 dB L-R) Linkwitz/Riely Low Pass (High Cut) @ 100 Hz

The DSP channels drivine the left and right Mid/ High SP-5should be set:

4th Order (-24 dB) Bessel (Bs) High Pass (Low Cut) @ 140 Hz

2nd Order (-12 dB BS) Low Pass (High Cut) @ 16,000 Hz

Use the IPR 50000 on the Subs and the IPR 3000 on the SP-5.

There is a small icon marking above the level sensitivity control on each amp channel set the indicator at those marks for X's 40 (+32 dB) of voltage gain, which is correct for the presets.
