Vypyr VIP3 Pitch Shifter

Post by dbea3059 » Sun Jul 14, 2024 1:19 am

Hi there.

I have a Vypyr VIP3 amp and was just wondering if i am using the pitch shifter correctly.
I am selecting an effect pedal called PTCH. The first knob alters the pitch and the 2nd knob adjusts wet/dry balance. I have tried to detune the guitar sound a few steps but it sounds awful unless you play very slow single note melodies. Is this normal?

i was going through the presets and found 03-1 "Bass Sim" that detunes the guitar 12 steps. You get perfect pitch shifting with no delay and all chords sound clear. Is there a way to get this to work for dropD dropC tunings? (Using a guitar with standard tuning).

Hi dbea3059,

it should work. Try only a half or one step down and the 2nd knob all the way to the right (means only wet signal). You can play single notes as well as chords and you can use it for drop tunings. But you won't get happy with this. There is too much latency.

I use a DigiTech "The drop" in front of my vypyr. And this thing works like a charm!
