I’m looking at two local Vypyrs at fair prices.
The first is a Tube 60 with Sanpera 1 pedal and updated tubes (not clarified if new). This one is a little over 200$. The speaker is a 16ohm ‘Vypyr’ branded speaker - I always assumed this to be a relabeled Blue Marvel, but maybe not?
The other is a 30, lacks the pedal accessory and is missing one encoder cap (already priced replacement at 7$). They are asking just over 100$ and pictures show a Blue Marvel speaker.
Both are stated to have no issues, though I’d test to confirm before buying. - my use case is home use, getting the most flexibility without a mountain of pedals. Not too worried about volume as even the 15w is said to be too loud at high volumes for home use. Reading here about adding a second volume pot to still drive the amp but offer granular volume control at lower levels.
My current amp is an 87’ Audition 30 and I like the sound, but it is bare bones and takes a but of volume to distort/saturate. When the saturation does feed in it it has a neat, hair-metal tone to it that isn’t overbearing. Guessing it’d be synonymous with a Tube Screamer sound. I’d be keeping it as well, while getting the modeler.
I tried a Spark 40 recently and found it a cheap feeling and sounding, in fact I hated the Line6 and Mustang I tried as well - control positions annoyed me and navigating tones quickly seemed a pain compared to the WYSIWYG of the used Vypyrs. I wanted to like the Spark, I really did, but no dice.
Opportunity: Vypyr 30 or Vypyr Tube 60

Never saw any feedback here, but I made my decision. Sounds neat but still loads to learn about using it.
