Squealing/feedback

Post by Calpantera » Thu Jan 19, 2023 4:58 pm

I have a first gen VK 100 and I have not used it in a long time. The other day I fired it up and when playing noticed what I thought was feedback. I turned down the gain a bit and then noticed when I tapped the top of the amp it did it again. I posted a vid of it.

Thanks for any info you can provide

I agree with the comment on your YT video. It sounds like a bad tube.

Ya when I tapped the tubes V1 was really bad. So I changed it out and now I only get a slight hum from the speakers, no sound. Even if I use a different preamp into the effects loop still nothing. If I go the other way and go out the effects send to the effects in on another amp I still get nothing. Tested the cab by plugging into another amp and it works fine. I have gone as far as changing all of the preamp tubes as well as the power tubes (The head did not have a matched set of power tubes)
Everything lights up as expected

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I can only recommend seeing an amp tech now. :(
