Hi!
I just picked up a used 120 Tube and Sanpera II at around $200 (NOK 2000). The 120 is barely played, the PO had it for backup to his 60w tube, but never had to use it. Just tested it a few times. The foot board has had more use.
I did not get a DIN8 cable, so had to make my own solution with a DIN7 I found and a separate grounding cable from chassis to chassis (found out the missing pin, the middle one, was ground, and both amp and pedal board had continuity from this pin to the chassis). Worked well. I also had to soften the rubbers on the pedals and adjust the screws inside to make the toe switches work.
Now I got a KILLER versatile amp, although I haven't really grasped all the possibilities yet. The pedal board adds another dimension to it all, although I miss a knob for toggling clean/overdrive without making another preset.
I updated firmware from 1.5.8 to 1.5.9 via my Sapphire USB audio interface. It worked on the second try. Not sure if the update was neccessary, but I like to have the lates revision. Not sure if I should go for any of the beta firmwares, though.
The only issue now, is I tried the headphone jack with my Bose QC 25, and it only gave me sound in one ear. Could it be the 4 lead mini jack (mic/stereo)?
My only concern now is that the settings might be a bit overwhelming, but I'll browse the settings thread. I mostly play hard rock/stoner/metal.
It's good to see a user forum dedicated to the old VYPYR series still.

Welcome to the forum. It is great to see people still enjoying their Vypyrs 12 years after they were introduced.
Firmware 1.59 is good. If you have not seen Roger's post regarding Vypyr firmware, you can find it here:
https://forums.peavey.com/viewtopic.php ... 25#p158207
It is also good to avoid the beta versions. if you can.
A great first step any time a jack has issues is to get some Deoxit, spray it on a plug and plug/unplug it into/from the jack a few times. This should clean any dirt/corrosion preventing the jack from making good contact.

Re: New to Tube 120 and Sanpera (phones function defective?)
Thanks for the warm welcome. Embarassingly, it was just the kind of minijack I put in that was the problem. A normal stero minijack works nicely! Everything's good, I'm just trying to figure out all the workings of the pedal board and settings This certainly is an amp that speaks both to my musical and my geeky sides, although I can get a bit paralyzed by too many options. It does seem to be simple just to find a good tone and play around with it, though.
I did see the post regarding the firmware. Not sure what the Librarian is all about (I live with one, not sure if she'd like to move into the amp), but I heard 1.65 firmware also lets you get 2-way signals thru usb or something? Also so you can update the amps over USB? Not too useful since a new update is veery unlikely, I guess.
Edit: I did search the forums about the Librarian, and found it's a system for sharing patches/settings and edit them from the PC, and it changed name or morphed to Virtual Vypyr or something? Do people still use this? Does not look like it's been maintained in a while...

Re: New to Tube 120 and Sanpera (phones function defective?)
So I stupidly, in an attempt to fix the looper volume, tried upgrading to firmware 1.66. Now it's a goner, it seems. It was fun for a while.
Re: New to Tube 120 and Sanpera (phones function defective?)
I actually managed to bring ut back to life. Just had to flash many times with no guitar connected. After 7 or eight attempt it succeeded with 1.59. I dont think I'll bother with 1.66.

That is good that you were able to back level it to 1.59 and get it running!!!
I saw your post earlier noting that it had died. It took me a while to find this, but I was going to let you know that Forum Member gcolbert had successfully revived a "bricked" Vypyr with a Raspberry Pi:

Anyhow, it looks like you are good back at 1.59 so just stay with that.

Re: New to Tube 120 and Sanpera (phones function defective?)
Thanks, I actually found that vlog and had already taken apart my amp when I read some comment on youtoube by Colbert(?) stating that if I got the lightshow when not plugging the guitar, the amp was not really bricked. Then I read a comment from another 120 owner that just kept on trying with the guitar unplugged, until it stuck. And alas same thing worket for me!
I was going to make it work again with the Arduino uno. I even got a Vypyr ROM file from some very friendly guy that came up in a google search with e-mail and all. I was only lacking a test clamp to program the EEPROM chip, I almost had ordered it
So now it's back to enjoying this amp and programming resets. I've understood that the looper works best when post gain is cranked, so I'll just keep that in mind.
