Pins 7 & 8 show about 18V

Pins 1 & 2 show squat. Nada. Zip.

The ground pins show near 0 ohms resistance.

So, I'm not getting that 8V supply.

Great, don't forget to check the -18V.
The +8V dc comes from the pwr supply bd.

Check at the pwr supply board,
Measure +8 across caps C21 or C29 and at the connector Pins 1 and 2.
If no +8 at pwr supply bd, with pwr off measure ohms to ground on the +8V supply, ck for short,
other wise C21,29 or C12 could be bad.

I think we may be bumping up against my skill level now if we're testing capacitors with an eye on replacing one. I've soldered maybe 50 connections in the last 50 years and few if any were pretty. I'd have no idea now where to get the proper capacitor either. (Radio Shack and the local Sparky's are out of business) Moreover, the caps don't offer any connections on this side of the board, and I can't even find C12!

Perhaps it's best I leave this up to the professional on the assembly line. ($100)

The main thing is: The power supply board is faulty. I can replace it, and fix this one as a spare.

Comments?

...and THANK YOU, Rogue777

Yes, it helps to have a “cap-meter” to use.
Thanks for trying. I was hoping you might find something obvious that would fix it.
There’s no guarantee that these ideas would work. It’s something to ck.
I hope you can get it fixed for good.

Did replacing the power supply brd help? I am curious as i have had that same issue with my VIP 2. makes a loud "ppt ppt" sound, no lights, no sound,no joy.

If its the pwr supply, do you know the part number?

Thanks!

Hi, the same thing happened to me, but I have a vypyr 120W tube
I’m pretty sure it’s a problem with the input, because the speakers aren’t blown on mine, I can use my phone and it plays out of the speakers, I can also use the headphone jack and that works. But right as a I plug into the input, complete silence, except for using headphone and such.
