Windscreen grill on a Peavey PVM38i

Post by dadroadie » Mon Jun 26, 2023 2:03 pm

Hi to all,
I know I'm going to appear dumb but I was hoping someone may be able to advise me about how to remove the windscreen from a Peavey PVM38i microphone? I got on off eBay and want to clean the grill and replace the foam. Tried to move it but both the top and bottom of the screen won't budge.
Any help would be appreciated. Regards dadroadie

Hi to all,
Would anyone have a PVM-38I microphone that they might be able to check and see if the grill is removable?
Want to see if there is a lot of crud around the cartridge.
The one I got off of Ebay seems to work but the microphone doesn't seem to have a lot of gain.
Was the PVM-38I a lower gain unit or is mine just past its prime.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
This is a GREAT forum!!!!

I'm not familiar with the 38i specifically, but I would think the whole top unscrews like other models. If it is corroded or oxidized around the threads, it might just be difficult to get started unscrewed.

Thanks for the reply!
I tried removing the entire grill and just the top section with no luck so I'm going to figure it's glued on and not removable.
From the reviews I read online it's a pretty bad quality cheaply made microphone .
Not one of Peaveys better moments.
At least I now have a good karaoke mic!!!
