PM18S mic quit...

Post by colliedogboy1 » Sun Oct 21, 2018 2:55 pm

Anybody have any idea why a PM18S podium mic would suddenly quit working for no apparent reason? It's on the same cable in the same podium it has been in for 2 years. Nothing has been moved. The 48V phantom power is turned on as usual. The blue "power" light on the mic does not light up. The mic does not work on another mic cable with 48V phantom power.
There was a period of about 2 weeks, immediately after installation, when the mic would pop loudly when a static charge built up in the preacher's body from walking on the nylon pile carpet. Even if you merely touched the wooden podium, it would cause the mic to pop. That problem was solved by putting rubber grommets between the carpet and the metal mic jack plate and also between the wooden podium and the metal base of the PM18S.
That was approximately 2 years ago, and there have been no problems until now.

Hard to tell exactly. It sounds like power is not getting to the element.
