I started a few years back buying some peavey microphones. I found them to be excellent quality and low price on the used market.

I have:
Five PVM 520i used for kick drum, djembe, upright bass, and sometimes on guitar amps.
Four PVM 480 for drum overheads or as choir mics.
Several PVM 45i used for drum kit and guitar amps.
and a few PVM 22 for vocals
