Addverb limit light stays on

Post by Jbostwick » Sun Sep 03, 2023 4:20 pm

Hello, got a quick question, we have a addverb at church and today when I turned the system on the limit light was on and there was no one there but me. So it didn’t have any signal going to it, once the band got there and started playing I tried to turn it up a little bit with just vocals and it was all distorted. Any suggestions or ideas as to what might be going on? It’s an older just plain addverb that we have had since it was new.

First unplug the cables going into it and out of it. Does the light still show clipping? If the clip light is still on the problem is with the unit itself. I'm unsure if Peavey still does service on them but it may be worth a call/email to find out. If the clip light doesn't come on with the cables unplugged, then most likely something on the input side is wrong and overdriving the input.

If it is not a simple cable or external level issue, I would say look for a new replacement. Having that since new, it has served you well for the last 30-40 years.
