Hey guys,
Help me out here, I am new and wanting to get into audio engineering with some band buddies of mine. I have acquired a used Escort 3000 PA system. I have seen some older posts here mention there is a Headphone Out on the 3000, however, I cannot locate it. Can someone confirm whether there is a headphone out on it? If there is not, could you explain what the intended use of the system is - from what I've researched online, mixers and PA systems are primarily a way to control and combine all inputs together - and without an out nor a way to hear the music from "backstage", it seems rather difficult to have any control over the inputs.
Any advice is appreciated as well, thank you!

Re: Escort 3000 Headphone Out
I don't believe the Escort series ever had headphone jacks.
Also, saying you want to get into audio engineering with some band buddies - What kind of band? The Escort system is designed for very small applications, some vocals singing to accompaniment trax or maybe an acoustic guitar plugged in. It is woefully inadequate for a standard 4-piece band (drums, bass, guitars, vocals)
General terms - a mixer is one component of a PA (Public Address) system. PA system refers to all components together as a whole; mixer, speakers, microphones, etc.
The mixer combines multiple inputs with individual control of the volume and also usually included tone and effects and other signal processing, more so with digital mixers as they have many virtual tools built-in that analogue mixers required external rack of equipment to accomplish (EQ, compression/expansion, etc.)

Re: Escort 3000 Headphone Out
Thanks, I appreciate the reply. Band has got two guitars and a vocals. Why do you say it's inadequate for a 4-piece band? It has 7 channels including the backing. So, if I am looking to have subtle changes for every song type (country to pop), do you have any suggestions to being able to better hear what's playing and make the right changes? Right now, I am having to set up in a corner away from the band and away from the speakers and I don't feel confident that I am making the right changes when I can't hear what I'm doing properly.
