So we want to use the XR 1212 as a mixer only (not use the power amps). The chain will be the XLR L and R outs to EV ELX 118P powered subs. Then an out from the powered Sub to and powered top (either JBL or EV) in sub mode (not full range). So the mains are set to cut out the lowest freqs. With the EVs, you can reverse it - mains first with the low cut on, then a cord down to subs. The order doesn’t matter.
This works fine with most mixers (QSC and Yamaha). However the XR1212 also has a 1/4 mono Sub Out. It would be more complicated to run a 1/4 cable from this Sub Out, to one of powered subs, then a cord from that sub out across the stage to the other powered sub. Then the XLR left and right out to the two mains directly. Is there any advantage to this second, more complicated arrangement?
This forum is for talking about all types of Peavey mixers.
