Correct fuse for the XR800F

Post by JasonF0815 » Thu Aug 04, 2022 1:24 pm

Next to the fuse holder it states TL4a 250V.
I was supplied with these in the attached images, but it looks was too small... (Even think it rattles in the holder!)

Searching "TL4a" fuses, I can't find anything... Search results seem to suggest 4a slow blow.
And other 5 mm fuses show (e.g. the T4A fuse), which I think is the same size as what I already have.
Then when I messaged Peavey I was told fast blow.. (First 8A, then changed to 4A); when I asked about the diameter/size, they didn't mention.

Any help here would be much appreciated!
Thanks all.

Do you have a picture of where it says TL4A?

As far as I can tell, the XR800F uses a fast-blow 8 Amp fuse. We either use 5mm x 20mm fuses or 1/4" x 1-1/4"fuses.

Looking at that picture, I'd say you need the 1/4" x 1-1/4".

Oh, I should have asked this first, is yours a 120V unit or a 230V unit? 120V would be 8A fast blow, 230V would be 4A fast blow.

The 230V would be a 5mm x 20mm fuse.

Your photos show a 20mm fuse sitting in a 1/4"fuse holder.

8A fuse is for 120v units, 240v units need 4A fuse, yes slow blow 4A.

Of course, here's the picture of the back panel.

So a 4 A slow blow, cool, thank you.

So the correct size fuse is 6.35 mm?

Would any of these do? :

Struggling to find an exact match.

Thank you again!

Common 4A slow fuse, looks like the AMplified Parts option is the better deal. I see no reason to pay $5 per fuse.

There are only two sizes of basic fuse that we see normally. Peavey never uses weird fuses, they try to make everything serviceable. I call them big ones and small ones. The small ones are the 5x20mm fuses, common in Europe and the world. And the big ones are the 1/4" x 1-1/4" fuses common for decades in the USA and elsewhere. Yes, both types are found all over.

Fuses will always fit securely in a holder, they are never flopping around loose inside.

There are common fuses - we call them fast blow. And there are delay fuses, we call them slow-blow, also called timed fuses.

So I got myself some 6 mm x 32 mm fuses (equivalent to the 1/4" x 1-1.4" I believe), and the fit nicely width ways.
But they're too long!
Can't push the fuse holder in.

Either, I need an odd sized fuse (I did find some 6 mm x 25 mm).
Or the fuse holder is wrong?

Does anyone know how I can find the exact fuse/holder I need for the XR800F?

Can't find any part numbers or anything.

Thanks all!
