Hooking up a single Open Box EuroLive sub woofer to a Peavey XR-1220 Mixer

Post by jpcook » Sun Oct 11, 2020 5:00 pm

I have a Peavy XR-1220 Mixer that I want to add a sub-woofer to the configuration. According to the manual on page 16 it appears this can be done by add a separate amplifier to the configuration to drive the subwoofer and taking thee output of the mixer from the SUB-MONO output. into another external amplifier.

My question is can we add only one subwoofer and not two? The diagram on page 16 indicates 2 subs.

Also can you still have stage monitors on Monitor 1 and a separate monitor mix for the drummer taking monitor 2 to the drummer separate mixer and powered monitor?

I left a voice mail message asking the same questions.

Thanks..

You can certainly have two subwoofers. Take the sub out to the A input of your amp, then patch another cable from the A Thru jack to the B input. Now you can drive two subwoofers.

I'm a little confused by your monitor question.

The XR1220 is capable of two separate monitor mixes. They can both be powered by the internal amplifiers or the line level output can feed an external amplifier or powered monitors. Using the internal amplifiers does not defeat the line level outputs. You can use the internal amps and also use the line level outputs to feed additional speakers.

The Question regarding the sub-woofers is that is is ok to only have one?
I understand by looking at the manual that you can have two.

And as far as the monitors are concerened, we use a separate monitor channel for the front of the group (Monitor 1), and we have a separate monitor channel for our drummer (Monitor 2). I assume the monitor channel do NOT get disabled when hooking up the Sub-woofer. Is that correct?

Sorry, sure, it's ok to only have one sub.

And no, the monitors are not disabled when using a sub.

Thanks Jim H for the reply.
Much appreciated.

We are probably going to order a powered sub-woofer and hook that up.

Again appreciate your response.

Have a good day.
