So I recently came into a semi-working 16FX for a very good price, but it doesn't have any output on the mains.
I've been reading all of the threads that I can find on this mixer, and this seems to be a common issue.
I have tried all of the mic inputs, as well as the media-in input, and none of the produce any output on the mains.
When I test a mic I do see that that particular channel is getting a signal because I can see the yellow light flash as the channel receives an input, but I do not see anything on the LED indicators for the mains sliders, even with them all the way up at 0. If I take the sliders right up to +10 I do see the very bottom row of the mains LEDS light up solid though.
I do however have output on the aux outputs. This leads me to believe that it is the DSP unit, as I have read in other threads.
Unfortunately the labels on the bottom seem to have been peeled off at some point, so I don't know what the serial number is so I can't check the production date.
In any case, after reading through a number of threads, I started by resetting to factory defaults, and then also updating the firmware to the 131b3 firmware provided in this forum.
That did not change anything.
I read about the FX Mixer mod, and feel confident I could do this to mine, but I am wondering if that would even have any effect on this issue. Am I just simply looking at this being an issue with the DSP module, and require a replacement for that? I imagine these are probably hard to come by.
Any input / guidance is greatly appreciated.
I've had many pieces of Peavey gear over the years and always had a good time with them. My first guitar amp was a Special 130 back when I was a teenager!
Another 16FX thread - No output on mains
Re: Another 16FX thread - No output on mains
Well I'm not sure what to make of this, but I took the mixer completely apart. Fully out of the chassis, tried to prop the boards all up so that they're somewhat safe. I also sprayed a bit of contact cleaner in a few pots that I was trying to work with and to my surprise it worked. Even the dsp effects through the mains.
I'm not too sure what taking it out of the chassis did, maybe it was more to do with gummed up pots or something.
In any case, I've got some issues to deal with, for one there is a huge imbalance between the left and right main pots, I get no signal out of the left channel until the slider is about 3/4 of the way to the top. The right slider seems fine. I'm pretty much out of contact cleaner, so I ordered some of this stuff: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B005T6I9HQ hoping that I can get things cleaned and lubed up and maybe that's all it is.
In the mean time I reached out to a local peavey service center to see if they can still supply the slider pots (Part # 71191056 for the main sliders, and also 71191057 for a broken pot on one of the stereo channels), and he said those parts are obsolete.
So I guess at this point I need to kind of shift the focus of this discussion. Does it seem like I ordered the right kind of cleaner spray?
And is there a supplier that anyone knows of that might be able to source some of these obsolete parts?

I would check the main faders...they sometimes break. Or the digital board, it's possible the outputs are muted.
The mod only fixes intermittent outputs...doesn't sound like your problem.
