Property connecting

Post by Dopamine » Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:06 pm

I need some advice . Please.
Ihave a CX310 2 way crossover
XR600B,CS800. Older model 4ohms and 2,118-8hc 2 sp118-4,TLX2X. I already hooked up one CR800 and wrecked it. So I been searching for 2 days on how to hook this gear up but I can't find anything. I had the xr
600 hooked to the 118hc' and sounds good but I want more. This set up is for my basement. Running of cellphone with aux cord in 1/4 Jack. If that makes sense.

It is unclear exactly what and how many of each you have.
I believe the TLX2X you mention is actually TLS-2X. Is this correct? And do you have 4 of these?
Then it seems you have 2 of the SP118, but say it is 4 ohm and not 8 ohm? I don't think the SP118 was ever available as a 4-ohm.
Then it seems you have 2 of the 118 Sub HC that are 8 ohm.

Is this correct?

Then, do you still have one good CS800 or do you only have the XR600 powered mixer left?

I will go ahead and mention now that it is not good to mix different kinds of subs together, as they will have different response curves and usually will not play well together. Therefore, trying to use both models of subs may end up with less than if you choose one or the other. The SP118 subs would be more powerful than the 118 Sub HC model.

Also, if you have 4 of the TLS-2X, it is not good to set them side-by-side pointing in the same direction, as this will result in comb-filtering where you will have acoustic nodes, areas of peaks and dropouts, often only inches apart, noticeable as you move a little left or right in the room. Sometimes less is more - especially setting up in a basement. You would have the best quality sound with just two subs and two tops.

We will deal with the crossover and how to hook things up after your clarification of speaker arrangement.
