Standard PA Help with Master Switch

Post by Snowyriver » Tue Aug 06, 2024 2:33 pm

Hello all,
Brand new to forum, first post.
I have a standard -pa I bought in 1978. It’s in immaculate condition. Haven’t used it in 20+ yrs. Recently I decided to bring it out and hear it again. When I move what I’m assuming is a polarity on/off switch to one side it has considerable humm. When I move to other position it doesn’t turn the amp on, nothing. I searched the forum for a similar issue and was not able to find one. Is it an age thing? Common issue? I have opened it up and all wires are intact, no discoloration, etc.

If someone has some knowledge and time to answer I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Craig

The first thing I would try is plugging it in at a different location. Almost sounds like a bootleg ground issue where the receptacle was wired wrong.
