ipr2 3000 Power consumption

Post by philmguitar » Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:52 pm

Does anyone know the power consumption in amps or mains power needed in watts for the ipr2 3000?

For perspective, running at 1/8 is actually pretty hard, and 1/3 would be extreme. I've watched an amp meter on my amps while pushing hard and the current draw is usually not anywhere near high enough to be concerned. However, if you're playing heavy bass thumping techno music, that will pull a lot more power than most.

At 1/3rd power into 4 Ohms the output is around 735 Watts per channel at around 70% efficiency, (add 300Watts to cover losses) so in real terms that means around 1kW draw per channel.

Not that you could even tell, for real, as in practice it will vary so much.
