Are Escort Speakers Interchangeable Between Models?

I don't mean if you can make them work with the mixer, but if it is possible to replace the speaker on a Escort 6000 with the speaker for an Escort 3000 and have everything close properly, since the speakers are supposed to be part of the closing mechanism when you are moving the unit.

The shell (or enclosure) is identical...that shouldn't be a problem.

However, there are some differences in the actual driver. Some of the Escort speakers are 4 ohms and some are 8 ohms. Depending on the generation...can't remember which was which off the top of my head. You could do an ohm check...if they are identical then that's not a problem. I also think the Escort 5000/6000 had a beefed up speaker to handle the extra power.

If you put an 8 ohm speaker on an amp designed for a 4 ohm speaker, the amp will only put out half of its intended power.

If you put a 4 ohm speaker on an amp designed for an 8 ohm speaker, the amp could overheat or possibly be damaged.
