Setting amplifier gain prolite 7.5

Post by jay Michael » Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:45 am

Greetings everyone. Excuse me if this has been covered before, I looked but maybe I am searching for the wrong terms. As a decade long user of all self powered gear I am now using stand alone Amps for the first time. I am researching how to properly set my gain structure using a driverack pa2 with my crest pro lite 7.5.
I have come across this video from dbx explaining the process clearly but what I can’t find info on is if my pro lite amp is able to be run with no load like described in this video. Is it safe to do it this way? Or is there a better method I should use? Many thanks if you can help me out

Here is the video

Most transistor based amps will be perfectly fine without a load. I still wouldn't run it for a long time without a load anyways. Any tube based amp will not be so forgiving. Always use at least a dummy load on a tube amp. This whole process really shouldn't take you very long to complete.
