PEAVEY IPR 3000 (specs)

Post by peaveyisgood » Tue Jan 11, 2011 5:51 am

Does anybody have this amp already?

Have seen a couple different websites claim that it's power is the following when i called them to order:

1,500 x 2 (2 ohms)
1,000 x 2 (4 ohms)
530 x 2 (8ohms)

sweetwater
guitarcenter
music123

But i have seen in the posts here that it might be less.
musicman330 wrote:The box is clearly labled 8ohms 440 and 4-ohms 840 and 2 ohms 1490 per channel 2 channels driven! It works great, very thumpy.
Can anybody comfirm or correct this or do all of the companies selling this product have the specs wrong?

Its my last step before i order 2 of them this week, But i am just making sure. i only have the 2 peavey pv 15 neo's and the 2 peavey 118 subs.
rated 400 (program) - 800 (peak) so a lower power rating would serve me better being it will overpower my speakers by only 20 watts @ 4 ohms per side rather than 100 watts @ 4 ohms per side.
(20 watts over is much easier to keep an eye on for me when i'm making noise at a party)
(((((my fingers are crossed)))))

Thank you for all your help in this matter,

Dave

These are the specs, as relayed to me by "JD", aka "SickNeedHelp" aka Peavey Lead Amp Engineer:

1600 - 300w/8ohms; 530w/4; 900w/2
3000 - 440w/8ohms; 840w/4; 1490w/2
4500 - 825w/8ohms; 1500w/4; 2250w/2

Thank you so much steve.

You mean all the companies that i called didn't know the real specs?

Like i said, Lower specs for me works since i don't have very strong speakers.

Maybe peavey should call these companys to let them know that they made a oops.

Thanks again steve,

Dave

I think the companies you refer to have the preliminary specs from the introductory material that Peavey published a couple years ago when they first debuted the amps at a trade show. As often happens, the true published specs from the actual manufactured piece of gear varies from the original "dream" specifications of the promotional info.

Those quoted specs do look like the prelims I saw as well. I remember 1000 for the 3000 into 4 ohms. But as Josjor stated, by the time the engineering product arrives and marketing has already printed up the "hype sheets", decisions are made.

Cheers,

I went thru this after recieving my first amp. The box has a pic of the amp and all specs. I called and was told the mixup was due to marketing, advertising and design not being in sync. The amp took awhile to ship and the early specs never were updated. It seems the mistake ends up benefitting you as well as it did me. I have used these amps since June 2010
with ZERO problems. The funny thing to me is the sales/stores end, they have the amps in boxes and racked for display and still dont know whats up!
I was in a GC on Monday picking up a few patch cables and there it was a display of IPR's a big sign reading Peavey's new 1000 watt amp!
It's not that Peavey labeled the boxes as 1000 watt amps and post production tests show they are not. Which would be false advertising.
Enjoy your amps I know I sure am.

Yeah, but it not very nice to tell people that they are 1,000 x 4 @ 4ohms when they are not.

BUT, In this case, They helped me alot by being wrong.

I am going to order one today.

:D
