CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
Today I noticed when I turned on my system the Cs 1000X which is Ran Bridged to 4 Ohms. Had the DDT Led Illuminated.
When I turned down the Main Volume or the actual amp input volume it would go off.
Noe to let you know nothing has been changed all connections are exactly the same for last few months and never have I had a DDT Illuminate
Not just blinking every once in awhile solid on and volume may be max 20% even power LED was only showing -15dB 3%
What gets even stranger is this does it when I disconnect the speakers or the speaker wires.
Now all of a sudden it stopped illuminating for no reason I just sat down to think why it was doing this and I noticed it was off and I tested system running the power up to occasionally illuminating the 0dB 100% led and no DDT illumination at all.
I turned off system and came back about 6 hours later and when I powered up again the DDT was illuminated again.
Also when the DDT is illuminated the sound is real scratch and static filled.
One last important detail the DDT is not illuminated on channel A but on Channel B and I am running Bridged Mode.

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
Ok so it did it again today.
I came in fired up the system to check and see if I could figure out why the B channel DDt light was on.
When I fired it up it sounded normal (the buzz then click etc.
I started playing some music and it was back to normal no DDT light even pushing -9dB 12% power
(when it is acting weird the DDT light comes on at -18dB 1.5% and is really distorted sounding)
(this amp is X-over running from 25 Hz to 200 Hz)
Then about 30 minutes or so into listening to music I noticed the bass all of a sudden dropped off in quality and volume and I looked over and the DDT light was back on again only on channel B while in bridge mode
In between songs the light goes out and during say low volume sections it is off too, but even with volume turned way down during double bass or any guitar sections it will activate.
There has to be something going wrong with the DDT system correct?
Can I just deactivate it as long as I make sure to keep volume low enough so I never hit the 50 or 100% Power LED's
Any suggestions on what I can look for inside?
Could it be a loose wire or something by chance?
All this has happened with the exact same setup /connections I have had for months with nothing being changed or connected disconnected which is even more puzzling.

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
When it is acting up, work the bridge / stereo switch back and forth a few times and see if the problem clears itself up. If so, it's probably dirty switch contacts.
Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
Yep already tried that. both that switch and the DDT switch.
Noticed something really strange.
With nothing on but that amp and its input dials set at (Infinity/Lowest) I am hearing a buzz or hum
I have disconnected the Speak on connectors and it still shows the DDT next I will open the SKB case or actually pull it
and see what happens with no connections at all and see if it internally somehow.
All I can say is I am really glad I did not sell my CS 800X or the CS 1000 as I may have to use the 1000 in place of the X until I get this solved.
This is first time I have had a single issue with the 1000X Had some issues with the 800X where I had finally figured it was one of the connectors inside that somehow was not making good contact on random occasions

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
To update this issue
it is intermittent some times (while in bridge mode) the channel B DDT light comes on at low volume but rather then interrupt the sound or cut volume by any noticeable amount, and the sound is Distorted or Fuzzy.
I have found it has to be internal issues as I replaced the CS 1000X with the CS 1000 I have and that amp works fine, with same speaker wiring and same input wires from X-Over
What could cause this issue internally?
Also I found this issue happens even with the DDT disabled (via the rear switch)
When it works normally (No DDT light the sound is fine and works as it should )
I am thinking it must be a bad wire internally any suggestions on what I shoudl be looking for specifically to see if I can find issue ?
Could this be some hardware issue (in the DDT circuit) that could be going bad by chance?

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
It is possible the DDT circuit has the issue, but not high up my list. After all, if the smoke detector alarm in your house goes off, do you think the problem is the detector?
A problem in the power amp stage that causes distortion can easily trip the DDT into operation as it tries to compensate for the distortion. And when you report this happens even with DDT turned off, then I really don;t suspect the DDT circuit.
Loose wire? Well, ball up your fist and whack the top of the amp hard. Does that make it start (or stop) doing this? That will help reveal loose connections.
Use an insulated probe - fancy way of describing a wooden chopstick or something - and push on the various boards to see if the flexing makes any changes. And any ribbon cables, push on them as well.

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
@enzo
Ok thanks I will try that .
I have the amp currently out of the case/setup so I will try that sat morning and see if anything changes and get back to you.
it really caught me off guard as I had no issues at all then one day this issue so I just turned everything off and listened via my Bluetooth headphones then few days later I tried system and it worked fine for about 15 min or so then started acting up again that is when I replaced the CS 1000X with the CS 1000 I had in garage and haven't touched the X since.
but id really like to get to bottom of this rather then have the X just sitting in garage.

Re: CS 1000X has weird DDT Issue Ch B in bridge mode
I know this is an old thread and I got sidetracked with family tragedies health issues etc and was looking up some info on the CS 1000X as I do not have my manual handy and came across this post again.
I swear I posted that when the amp did this I smacked the Handle on the L side with a small 3 lbs dead blow hammer (Finally frustrated and at a loss)
Instantly the Sounds (All Subs Sound) turned off then Click it came back as normal
I think I finally tracked it down to the delay On relay (Whatever it is when you turn it on that tales a sec or 2 then you hear a click and the sound comes on) I ran it in bridge mode and as i said it has B side DDT activated and is very low and fuzzy sound when in stereo A side is clean and b on occasion acts the same but only b is Fuzzy or distorted and again I wack it and it usually interrupts all sound then comes back on and is fine
I currently have 2 CS 1000X amps each bridged to a 15: 4 OHM sub and the CS 800X powering the 2 @ 5" mids and 1 horn on each cabinet CS800X Lost Sice B and at the moment is in garage on bench taken apart
(though it powers up fine all Green no DDT No Overheat etc side B has no sound though does not show any sign of damage and no way I could of blown that channel as my house would of fallen apart and my ears would be bleeding if I even remotely tried running at anything above say 70% of Max power according to the LEDS on the CS 1000X's and my Mixer
I need ot get my Lazy Butt out there and re assemble that unit and update this as to any new data or info I find
