Post by antoniskrj » Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:05 am

Hello guys, 2 days ago i bought a blackwidow 1801 8ohm the old one, i searched the whole web and i cant find any enclosures/plans to make a box for it, i am attaching pictures bellow.
(The magnets changed before from the guy i take it with a 1502 that is the same)

The only information i gathered is that i need for sure up to 254 litres box and vented.

Is there a sticker on the basket around where the wire input spring clips are? It may be better if we knew the exact basket. Peavey stopped making those baskets quite a while ago. Going by only VAS of 254 liters and knowing that is a 350-watt basket I would use the spec's on a 1801-8-LT BW replacement basket as a rough starting point if you have no other information. I may have a flyer on the older series like that around here somewhere as well. That looks like a 1801-8-kadt basket but there is no way to tell for sure without seeing if the sticker is still on it.
With these spec's you can use a speaker building program of your choice and go from there. Those were used a lot in the 118 international series and 118-sub-HC, subs so if you can find one around local you can use those measurements as a starting point as well.

I don't think the plans are available on-line but you can always ask if someone owns the box here and can give you the >inside< Hight, width, and depth of the box and the size of the slot port. The front grill is held on with heavy duty Velcro type fasteners so it shouldn't be too hard to get those numbers. Maybe start another Post asking about it?
That said these were made from 3/4 inch plywood with just a few braces inside if I remember right. Basically, a few strips of 3/4 inch plywood about 1 1/2 inches high stood up from close to the top to the bottom on the back piece. (again from memory and it has been 25 or so years...) The back piece of the box is flush with the sides so the real question is how far in does the front piece go into the box that has the 18 inch woofer on it and what the size of the port on that piece is.
