Not a Scorpion. What is it ?

Post by Lee Thistle » Wed Jul 27, 2022 6:24 pm

Hi Folks: I bought a set of speakers new, from a reliable conpany way back in 1992. They have no speaker manufacturer code on them. They are 15 inch full range 8 ohm and 250 watts. They look exactly like a Peavey Scorpion but they are not. They do not have removable baskets, but they have much bigger magnets. I have used them with a separate horn and subs for many years. I was always curious why they look so much like a Scorpion, with the odd roundish front rim and rear edge mount. I tried to attach a pic, but it didn't work. I wonder if Peavey outsource their Scorpion baskets from the same company. They were made in Taiwan. I know that much. Anyone want to comment ?

Peavey made their own Scorpions. Brushed aluminum frame with wide flange. Flange squared off on the sides And yes, removable magnet assembly. I am not aware of another brand speaker that looks like a Scorpion, but I haven't seen every speaker made., so...
