Peavey MF2-X Crossover Schematic/Parts List Needed
Peavey MF2-X Crossover Schematic/Parts List Needed
I would like a crossover schematic and/or a parts list to see what value capacitors are used, but more importantly what KIND of Capacitors. If they used Electrolytic Capacitors, they will need replaced.

Re: Peavey MF2-X Crossover Schematic/Parts List Needed
Well, I was hoping for someone with a better answer. Here is a circuit diagram I got off the forum in some other thread. You need to add the obviously missing ground line, and the parts list does not include part values for the MF2-X. However, the chassis you show looks similar to that of the 1245M and the setup of CD horn and bass speaker looks similar enough that I'll venture a guess the schematics is of the same type, just differing in part values. You'll need to pick off/measure the actual part values (non-trivial with the inductivities) but it should help you continue.
Since your aim appears to replace the capacitors, those should have their values printed on them, so the schematics are actually not going to help anything (and in fact, even though the crossover I scavenged had 1245M printed on it, the values differed slightly from what is in the schematics). So strictly speaking, for your purpose of renewing the capacitors, you just have to open the crossover and read off all the values before unsoldering the caps and replacing them. The schematic just gives you a feeling how this thing is operating. Note that the bass speaker is a part of the horn crossover and the horn autotransformer is a part of the bass crossover. So you cannot expect to replace the bass speaker with a different type and hope that the horn continues operating at the same frequencies as before.
The design makes for steeper crossover frequencies and less wasted energy than a more conventional design would, but at the cost of this finicky interdependence.
By the way: in the crossover I scavenged, all the capacitors measured quite accurately corresponding to the values printed on them and were nowhere needing replacement in spite of being from (I think) an older model than yours.

Re: Peavey MF2-X Crossover Schematic/Parts List Needed
I second the notion of just looking at it. Just 10 screws, Pull the crossover out and eyeball it, as dak said all the parts should have values printed on them. There could be an electrolytic, but they used lots of film caps. And really the film caps should last forever. They don't dry out.
As to your horn driver, just look at that, it should be printed on it. I'd wager my lunch money it is a 22A Peavey driver.

Yes, I saw a Peavey Crossover yesterday, and there were all film Caps that never go bad, so no need to replace!dak wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 2:56 pmWell, I was hoping for someone with a better answer. Yes, it is a Peavey 22A with the aluminum diaphragm that Jon Risch said not to replace with Titanium.Enzo wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 3:30 pmI second the notion of just looking at it. Here is the manual for the MF1-X, which is similar.

Your woofer could be a Black Widow, I can't quite tell from the photo. Have to look inside.

Jon Risch said it is not an ordinary Black Widow. It is an extended bandwidth Black Widow.Enzo wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 3:39 pmHere is the manual for the MF1-X, which is similar.

Re: Peavey MF2-X Crossover Schematic/Parts List Needed
The Peavey speaker listings call for a 1505-8 and 1505-8DT for the 115SC. It doesn't go into further detail.
DT was for Deep Throw was it not? I don't recall.
