SP2G Crossover went pfft

Post by rok55 » Thu Mar 04, 2021 2:42 pm

Hello all,

Been quite while since my last visit to the forum as my business has changed significantly and my in use gear has been very reliable and the rest has been sitting idle.

I recently sold a set of SP2G to a local musician and he promptly fried a crossover. He contacted me checking on repair or replacement and has provided me the crossover in question. He quite obviously let the magic smoke out of what I believe to be the "Poly switch or Varistor:? (small yellow cap) also blew the bulb but I've got that handled.

I have done an online search as well as a forum search here and can't seem to find a value / spec for that part. So I'm asking the brain trust here for a little help on the part# or value and a potential source

Figured the best bet would be to contact Peavey Parts directly. So I have placed a couple phone calls and had to leave a message both times. Also elected to send an email so now we'll hope for a response.

And make sure he didn't fry the diaphragm that polyswitch tries to protect.

Thx Enzo, but I don't know enough on the subject to know what that means. I assume you mean the diaphragm in the high end driver?

Yes. The horn driver. The poly switch only involves the horn driver.

But really, he should check every driver.
