How do I remove the speaker grills on my SP-5Ti speakers?
Is there some way the wooden frame has screws from the inside?
I have to go thru the side carry handles to find some screws?
I'm baffled.

The grill is on with industrial velcro if I remember correctly. You may need to remove corner protector to give the grill room to come off. You may have to pry the grill off, the velcro works.
Let us know how you do.

Re: Peavey SP-5Ti speaker grill removal, how?
Yes, I figured out it was velcro. I used a small prybar from the side corners untill the velco came loose.
One of my 4 speakers has a higher ohm reading at the rear "full range" jack than the others.
It has 7.3-8.5 ohms, while other 3 speakers are 5.5-6.2 ohms.
I removed the basket today and it reads 5.4 ohms at basket terminals.
The voice coil looks fine, no burn marks.
There was a small amount white crust came out after the magnet was taken off.
I think it was from the bolt threads, some sort of loctite must've been used?
I'm gonna clean voicecoil gap tommorrow, then check the ohms readings at all rear jacks. Full range, high and low.
I only measured on one of full range parallel jacks the first time.
Maybe it's a crossover,horn or 1/4" jack problem.
I recently (within last 1-2 yrs.) replaced all the horns with genuine RX 22/22XT Peavey Diaphragm Kits.
What happened that started me checking things was:
Left (channel 1) started to play on reduced volume, then would go back to full volume.
Then the power-up test clip light (rail gaurd protection) on QSC GX3 Amp, stopped going on.
Now the clip light on channel 1 doesn't light on power-up at all.
That channel also had a loose fitting connection on the amps 1/4" speaker output jacks.
I've been using the speakon jacks and the amp and speakers work fine, even before I found the 7.3-8.5 ohms.
I'll have to assume I messed up the rail guard protection circuit on that channel?
I foolishly bought the QSC GX3 used, so I'm gonna buy a NEW amp, after I make sure everythings ok with the SP-5Ti's
When I took the basket out, the foam from the magnet assy. was laying on the bottom of the cabinet.
It's all disinigrated and falls apart on touch. And the rest of it, is sandwiched in there still.
Is the magnet assy. two pieces and comes apart to replace the foam? If so, how?
There was also a small push on type round star like washer stuck to the outside magnet?
Is that from the horn mounting bolts? or something from who knows where?

Re: Peavey SP-5Ti speaker grill removal, now crossover problem.
Removed crossover, used a correct measuring crossover from the other speaker.
It don't measure higher ohms, so it's not a speaker or horn issue.
I tried to measure everything on the problem crossver.
I compared the measurements I got, with the good crossover and there are the same?
I'm no electronics expert, but have an ohm meter and capacitance checker.
I also don't trust myself good enough with a soldering iron, to take the components out of the circuit
to test the correct way, so I tested them in circuit.
So, if it's the crossover, what should I do?
-Call Peavey see if they have a replacement?
-Send crossover to my electronics repair shop, and have him check what's wrong?
I'll need to contact Peavey first for a wiring schematic first? for the repair tech.
-Wait,wait,wait till I see another one for sale on ebay, then hope it's a good one?
-Find some other crossovers to use that are a close match, while I'm waiting?
The SP-5G and SP-5XT have almost the same crossover.

Re: Peavey SP-5Ti speaker grill removal, now crossover problem.
I am having trouble working from my phone. The crossover has some 1/4" jacks that are also switches. The high and low inputs break the circuit and insert your biamp signal to the driver. Those switching jacks are most likely dirty/corroded. something like Deoxit spray and some jack exercising may help. most likely rest of crossover is okay. You may be able to search for really old posts about this. Your speakers are from the early 90s I believe.

Re: Peavey SP-5Ti speaker grill removal, now crossover problem.
I sent the crossover to Peavey Repair Center and they quickly fixed it for a good price.
I'd advise anyone needing a peavey repair, to send it there.
All the board components were good, it was the Bi-amp High and Low input jacks that were bad.
They replaced those, and now ohms resistance on the normal full range jacks are a more respectable 6-5-7.2 ohms.
I cleaned all the woofer basket voice coils and made a tool from a old scraper, that removes the grills easy.
I then cranked em up with a NEW Peavey IPR 2000 amp and a big spider came out that was living behind one of the grills.
