ISO SP-4 Spec Sheet

Post by txmanager » Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:17 am

Hi-
I'm in search of a spec sheet for an older pair of SP-4's. The sheets I found on the Peavey site, the images do not match my cabinets. The model number on the tag simply ready "Model-SP-4". One of the serial numbers is 8E-03331131. I'm trying to match power amps to component power handling in Bi-Amp mode. I appreciate any help.

Hello. I had a pair of those for some time. They are rated 300 watts RMS Full range as labeled on the back. The woofers are rated at 250 watts RMS each or 500 watts RMS 1000 watts program as a pair at 4 ohms so you'd want an amp on the woofers Bi-Amp low input to be between 500 and 1000 watts RMS at 4 ohms. I used to use a CS1200 for 600 watts rms with good results. The horn is a 22A if I remember right. Those were rated at 20 watts RMS , 40 watts program. The Horn Lens is a Constant Directivity design. CD horn eq is needed if you do bi-amp them. This is all based on if they have the original drivers in them and they are in good shape working correctly.

In all honesty I found they sounded rather well full range. Something in the 600-800 watts RMS at 4 ohms made them sound fine. You might squeak a DB or 2 more output out of them biamping but not a big sound quality jump. I went back to full range with mine as to me bi-amping them just wasn't worth it considering how well they sounded running full range.
