Help my identify these speakers

Post by tomd » Mon Oct 24, 2011 3:11 pm

Most certainly not Peavey, but a friend just came into possession of these and i was wondering if you guys could help give me an idea of what they are and their value.

the tops are not identical and the bottoms appear to have 2 rear facing 15" speakers apiece.

thanks

The pictures are to dark to tell . . .
But the bass bins look like Peavey FH-1 and the horn looks like it's probably an early version of the Peavey MF1-X with a 22 driver

They are indeed an FH-1 and MF1-X horn. Worth about $600.00 new. From the pictures (highly abused) now worth about $50.00 (If that much).

sorry, both those models are incorrect. i'll try the Altec lansing forums. thanks.

interesting side note: these are from the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, NS. they were part of the (much larger system) used during the 80's and 90's. so that means Metallica, G n R, Iron Maiden and, wait for it, Bon Jovi all played through them. adding exactly $0 to their resale value.

I can tell you that they are not Altec devices. After another look is still looks like our MF1-X Horn that was designed by John Gilliom who designed horns for Electrovoice with Don Keel.

The woofer looks like an early EV Eliminator, So I would look at EV.

The bass bin looks more like a EAW to me. It was a sub section. I'd look at EAW discontinued products. Pretty sure I was with a band that had a set.

After a second look . . .
That Horn has exactly the same Flair as the MF1-X horn, but its sticking out past the front of the cabinet a little bit.

The bottom if a 2x15 would be FH-2

The FH-2s were bigger and very deep. Almost as deep as wide. Maybe even more so.I don't remember a flat area in the center.

The more I look at them the more they remind me of a Sonic Speaker.

Those bottoms look exactly like the old ev's I had w/dual 12's. The horns I don't know.
