Peavey Answer Book Series: Sound Systems

Post by SemperFiSound » Mon Jan 24, 2011 10:26 pm

Good day to all,
Marty McCann was going to send me a CD with some stuff on it and had to find something to put it in to keep it safe and the first thing he grabbed was a booklet, no longer in print, entitled Peavey Answer Book Series: Sound Systems.

Not knowing that the book was merely protection for the CD, I read the book, cover to cover, thinking it was a supplement to the CD he sent. This booklet is no longer in print and while I found it a bit basic, it is definitely a great primer for anyone in the weekend warrior category (like myself) as it goes back a few years with some concepts and hardware and how a lot of all this got together. This book is "pre-affordable-digital" and so it goes through the analog and other basics.

It is authored by Mr. Wade McGregor and the Series Editor is Mr, Marty McCann.
It is 15MB in it's shrunken form and it seems that is still too big for this forum file system to handle. So I shrunk it again....

...
Please read and enjoy.
Steve

He denies it, but I think Marty was trying to hint that I needed to study some more...

Downloaded 27 times. Excellent. I am really hoping that "newbies" will give this book a good once over and that will help even the playing field when it comes to Q&A time on the forums.

As in any industry, there are some basics that are a given when a dialogue ensues.
This will help that 'ensuing dialogue.'

Cheers,
Steve

Whoo-hoo! 45 downloads. Keep it up! I am going to reference this manual and I am hoping for more basic foundations that can be built upon faster, easier and with less fuss. It is not a panacea, but hopefully a very good place to start, as Sister Maria would say.

Keep learning!

That means 2/3 of you are selling yourselves short and/or should be answering more questions on this forum!

Guilty, but that's because I have a hard copy from way back in the day. :D

We seem to be tapering off a bit....lots of new names on the forums recently, this should be 'basic mandatory training' reading for anyone who does sound. Yes for some it will be elementary, for others, enlightening.

Side note: I teach the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic Rider Course and the Experienced Rider Course. I have had students who have been licensed to ride for longer than I have been alive and they tell me at the end that "it was really good to review the basics and clear out some of the bad habits and thought patterns."

No doubt, it's good material. Maybe on of the mods could sticky it?

Steve, I found a copy of that booklet at a flea market a few years ago. Think I payed a quarter for it. Great basic info.

sorry to threadjack this. SempreFi, I took this class about 15 years ago and this IS a great class for anyone who rides to take, even experienced riders, I took it after having been a rider for 15 years and I even learned things that I should have known. You can teach an old dog new tricks! This was very popular class and hard to get a seat in, they often times have a 6 month wait. So, we have more in common than sound. I no longer ride because of the ole back but back in the day I rode sportbikes. I was very fortunate to have never been in a motorcycle accident. This class probably helped me avoid several accidents. Anyone who is even thinking about getting a bike should take this course, I highly recommend it.
