Pots/caps on an 1990 Foundation bass.

Post by KirkD777 » Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:39 am

I've got a large crackle with sound cutting out. I bought a Switchcraft jack for it as I'm sure that's the main culprit. But as I'm opening up the control panel I see only 250K pots everywhere. Are these the best for the bass? It's got the Suoer Ferrite pickups. Would upgrading anything be useful? My buddy who used to work for Peavey said it was around this time that Peavey would import certain parts from overseas and then assemble in America

The Foundation has single coil pickups , accepted practice in guitar design is you pair single coils with 250k pots. It's been that way for decades.

You could spend $10 to $12 on 500k pots. They'll make the bass sound a wee bit brighter ,though it might sound harsh.
