Serial Number T40?

Post by rehoward » Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:45 pm

Hello all,

I have been trying to identify the year of manufacture for my T40 bass. My serial number is only 6 digits long and I have not been able to find any list that has a 6 digit serial number. My number is 211152. Thanks for the help

All T-40s with a six-digit serial number come from early in the 1978 production run and are among the first production T-40s that were made. One of my T-40's is S/N 211100, so it's entirely possible that yours and mine were made the same day. :)

I bought my 6 digit (200031) when they were first released. I think I bought the first one in the Houston areas.

Thankful for this serial number date listing!

I just picked up a VERY NICE T-40 and I was told it was built in 1981. According to the chart, the seller is correct.

I have a couple of little things to tweak on the electronics and it will be 100% functional.

I may not ever take it out on gigs. I just wanted to give this T-40 a good home. It will sit in my office on a guitar stand (NOT stuck in its case in a closet!) and just hang out. I'll play it occasionally and I may even take it on a studio gig. I bought one of the first T-40s in 1978 and this one brings back good memories from those days.

I have a T-40 with a 6 digit serial number that says patent applied for. I think I purchased it in 1978.

Hello! I have two T-40s. Will you date them by serial numbers. Thank you!

1979 and 1981, respectively. Does your '79 have the rectangular Fender-style case with the green lining?
