Foundation Bass
Foundation Bass
I'm wondering if anyone can help me date and figure out specs on the Foundation that I was given. It's older and pretty beat up, but hoping some of your genius's can give me an idea. The serial number is 365109. I've included pictures as well. Don't worry, I know exactly how much value the stickers add! Any info I can get would be awesome!

It's from 1989 so near the end of the Foundation S run. Peavey wanted DiMarzio pickups for these but they proved costly, the answer was to have the German company Schaller reverse engineer them Tuners are also by Schaller. There was an active version too.
Not an expensive bass,about $300 to $320 when new,available between 1986 and 1990.
You'll need a 5/16th truss rod key to adjust the neck, easy sourced as it's the same tool fits Gibson Les Pauls. Look for 1 with a long socket, the nuts on Peavey truss rods can be sunk quite deep. Other tools you'll want are a 1/16th hex key to adjust the saddle height grub screws and a 1/8th key for the micro tilt. The "Micro Tilt" is a feature which replaces the need for a shim in the neck pocket should you want a very low action. It's set screw accessed through a hole in the neck plate.
That bridge is showing signs of rust so before you do any adjusting get it cleaned up and moving freely. Plenty methods for removing rust from white vinegar to Coke to WD-40. Personally I prefer the WD-40.

Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely be doing some work on it, but glad to have that info!
