6 number serial number for T-40
6 number serial number for T-40
Hi all! I was hoping to get some information on my T-40. The serial number only has 6 numbers unlike the 8 numbers on the listings. The number is 154001. Attached are some pictures. Thanks!

That's nice!
But, you mean "numeral." As in, "Six numeral serial number."

Re: 6 number serial number for T-40
6-digit serial numbers are very early production models. I see yours has the headstock pinstripe going around the truss rod cover. 6-digit T's are pretty rare, striping like yours is even rarer.
I've been collecting T serial numbers for about 8 years and have only documented 16 T-40s with 6-digit serial numbers. Yours is only the 2nd one with the early pinstripe.

Absolutely. A six-digit with truss rod cover surrounded is at the top of my "gotta have" list.

Re: 6 number serial number for T-40
Thanks guys!
A little story to go with it... I bought it in the mid 80's from a band member I played/worked with while I was in the military (in Korea). He was going through a divorce and his wife was threating to take everything, so he started selling things just so she couldn't get her hands on it... I paid him $100.00 and was suppose to hang onto it until his divorce was finalized, then sell it back for the same price. He ended up being moved to a base in the U.S. and me to a base in Japan, where we lost touch. Like me, if he had stayed in the military, he should be retired now.
About 10 years ago I had some friends who knew of his whereabouts and gave him my contact information, but he never responded. As a drummer (I play a little guitar and bass), it's been out the case 2-3 times for me to play, however I had kept the T-40 in the best of conditions in case he might have wanted it back. Then last year I found out he had passed away in South Carolina. That's why I decided to get some information on it.
It is a beauty! It's now in my guitar collection. Again, thanks guys and thanks to this forum for its information!

Re: 6 number serial number for T-40
Isn't that a newer case?
Re: 6 number serial number for T-40
I thought the it looked newer too, but I'm not sure about the age of the case. That was the case it was in originally when I received it. It is a nice case though
