Hey guys -
New here. I have a number of basses, some pretty high-end, but I recently acquired a Fury V at a really good price (i.e. CHEAP). I had previously owned a Grind Five that I loved the neck on, but it weighed about as much as a battleship, so it got sold on. The Grind was a passive bass. Some of my other basses are active (both stock and upgraded preamps), and all of them have a center detent for each of the controls; treble, bass, mid, and blend (if it has a blend). The Fury V seems to be different - it has a pot with a center detent for the blend control, but the bass, treble and mid controls have no center detent. Is this normal, or has somebody been having a little fun in the control cavity?
Any light you guys could shed on this would be helpful. I'm finding I really like the way this bass feels; I know it's not considered high-end, but it doesn't weigh a ton, plays great, and sits in a really good space with my band.
Thanks!

Re: Question about active preamp on my Fury V bass
It may well be normal, depends on the preamp.
If your Fury V has a preamp similar to the early Stingray then it is 'boost' only and there's no point in having centre dente for that.
Even for 'Boost/Cut' EQ having centre dente is hit or miss. Say you had a typical 3 band EQ with boost/cut at 50Hz/900Hz/3kHz, centre dente should be neutral at those frequencies. Problem is "should be" rarely match pot tolerance. The CTS 450 series are used by several guitar builders and hailed as the "industry standard".
The CTS 450 has a tolerance of +/- 20%.
Your ears will tell you if the pots are doing their job.

Re: Question about active preamp on my Fury V bass
@Mudcat35
I've just checked through my files.
The Fury V EQ used a MN 250k potentiometer for the blend, that's a very common taper for blend pots.
Bass, Mid and High all should be B 50K pots, again very common pot values for active EQ but rare to find with centre dente. You can get B 50k pots with centre dente but at $7 each there's no way Peavey were using for them.
