Peavey Odyssey

Post by rch7 » Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:40 pm

I have several Odyssey's but need info on one in particular. it is a trans red flame with no serial number. My other two have a serial stamped into the back of the headstock but the red one has no number on it anywhere. Were these made and distributed to studios or stores for promo purposes or demo models? I am just curious as to why there wasn't a serial stamped into it. I will post pics soon.
Thanks,
RCH

This forum doesn't get the attention it once did but your post is worthless without pictures. No offense intended but unless we can see what you're talking about we can't give a good answer. I've owned a 1991 Odyssey with serial number and never seen one without. Perhaps the Odyssey II prototypes were distributed without serial#'s?? The body style was different from the first gen Odyssey's. Pictures will tell us. Post some pics and we can hopefully help. Odysseys are great guitars! I miss mine but am currently thrilled to have another DeCola design - Falcon Custom.

All the best!

I would say it just wore off. I have one that the numbers are wearing.

Those are great looking Odyssey guitars. All of the odyssey I have have an ink printed, not embossed serial number. Not sure when they used the embossing. On one of mine, the serial number is partially removed from wear as it appears.

Interesting. I have owned 4 Odyssey's over the years...3 had the serial embossed into the headstock, and the red one here which didn't have a number at all.
