I have a close friend that has a T-60 that is in mint condition that is serial #00000000.
He received this directly from Mr. Peavey. Does any one know the story behind theses.
He remembers that there was around 20 T-60 so numbered.

Re: T-60 info
Not aware of this story.
As I recall Chip Todd and Heartly Peavey got the first ones. Chips was stolen, or destroyed, or something. Heartly sent him his to replace it.
But not aware of multiple serial number 0000000 being made.

Re: T-60 info
The all-zeros T-60s and T-40s were either demo models that were given to Peavey sales reps, or otherwise made for someone notable. Ten of each also had "GUITAR DEPT." stamped on them under the serial number with another number following that, and there are thought to be about a dozen or so each of all-zeroes T-60s and T-40s made, but again, no authoritative info exists. I spoke to Chip Todd a few years back, and even he didn't know for sure how many there were, only that they were *extremely* rare and that he thought they'd been made sometime between late 1976 and early 1978, but there's no authoritative set of dates. All of them will otherwise have the same cosmetic features as any other very early 1978 model, with non-blade toaster pickups, a metal nut, and a full pinstripe on the headstock that also traces around the truss rod cover, and will have originally had the early rectangular vacuform case with copper-colored lining.
I was very fortunate to have been able to pick up both an all-zeros T-60 and T-40 some years back:
