Peavey Falcon
Peavey Falcon
Hello, I’m new here, so maybe this has been discussed. How can i tell if I have a Falcon or Falcon Classic? Issue year doesn’t help. Year is 88 according to Peavey web sight. Google images is definitely no help. Thanks in advance.
Re: Peavey Falcon
88 would have been the original series.
The original Falcon had a maple board and the Kahler with the post nut locking unit.
The Falcon Custom had a rosewood board, (flatter radius) and on solid colors, usually a matching headstock.
The Falcon Classic had a vintage 4 screw trem (powerbend) and not the locking 2520 Kahler with fine tuners.

Re: Peavey Falcon
There are definitely a lot of Falcon variations. I always thought the "Classic" models were the 2nd generation/DeCola designed Falcons with pickguards, and the carved top models were Standards and Customs. I thought the 1st gen Falcons were only categorized as regular old "Falcon", and "Falcon Custom" signified it had a rosewood board and Kahler.
Anyways, here's how I thought the model names were given:
1st Gen (mid 1980's, pointy headstock w/ pinstripe and standard font "Falcon" logo, exaggerated body curves and horns):
Falcon - maple fretboard, vintage 4-screw or Kahler 2520 tremolo
Falcon Custom - rosewood fretboard, Kahler 2520 tremolo

2nd Gen (DeCola design, late 1980's - early 1990's, rounded headstock w/ script font "Falcon" logo, more traditional Strat body shape):
Falcon Classic - pickguard, maple fretboard, vintage 4-screw tremolo)
Falcon Custom - pickguard, rosewood fretboard, Kahler Spyder tremolo
* could not find manuals for these.
Falcon Active - pickguard, rosewood fretboard, Kahler tremolo, Peavey active pickups

Falcon Standard - carved top, rosewood fretboard, Schaller vintage tremolo
Falcon Custom - maple cap carved top, rosewood fretboard, matching headstock, Schaller vintage tremolo

OP, please post a pic of your guitar!
