Adding a Bigsby...

Post by LordTuck » Wed Sep 28, 2022 4:32 pm

I purchased a JF-1 about six years ago. Its taken awhile to get accustomed to it. I first had to rid myself of my PRS's. Since then I have come to appreciate my JF-1. I have made some significant mods to it, i.e., changed the tuning keys, replaced the nut, taken the pick guard on and off....I even play now with thicker guage strings (the George Benson's). Because I enjoy bending I have been weighing the idea of adding a Bigsby instead of purchasing a guitar with one. I saw one yesterday in a guitar shop for sale, a goldtone one but I then realised that there are a couple different models of them. I don't wanna drill and then find out I purchased the wrong size or that it is not comprable to my JF-1. I was wondering if anyone would have the experience of installing a Gretsch B7G Gold Vibrato Tailpiece & Gold Vibramate V7-LP-G. Would this fit my JF-1? LordTuck

I added a Bigsby to my JF-1. I will have to check my records to see which Bigsby I used.

I also changed the pickups to Fralin P94, bridge (Schaller Roller) and tuners to Sperzel. I haven’t changed the nut yet.

The bridge was a trick, because the factory bridge was not installed correctly. So had to fix the stud positions and realign.
