Peavey T-27

Post by Naptown Pete » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:19 am

I did a search in this forum for the Peavey T-27, but no hits (???)
We have a Peavey T-60 that is awesome, and I recently came across a Peavey T-27.
I'm wondering how much more rare the T-27 is to the T-60.
Here's the Peavey link to the T-27 Operators Guide
http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/manuals/80370333.pdf
I had always thought that Carl Perkins played a T-60 seen on the youtube videos for the Carl Perkins and Friends series, but a closer look reveals that it's a Peavey T-27.
Any T-27 owners, past or present, that can give some insight into this guitar?
Cheers,
Naptown Pete

With the shorter production period a T-27 is a bit rarer. The T-27 Limited is even rarer. I'd like to find one for my collection.

Which one is the limited? I scored a black T27, ebony (ebonite) board, a couple months ago. AWESOME guitar and super super rare.

The Limited has the rosewood (I think) fingerboard while the T-27 has the normal maple.

Then what is mine? The T-27 "Special" perhaps?

Its an composit ebony board, called ebonite by some other manufacturers, I believe...

The T-25 Special had the composite fingerboard.

I have her twin. The "special" denoted the plastic fingerboard, hotter pickups and the plush case.

I have the T-26, (3 "square" singles). I also have several Patriots. IMHO, all the Peavey's with those strange square rail pups are rare. Be they Super Ferrittes or the smaller single-sized. If it was just cosmetics, no one would care. But they sound amazing. They all have a unique jangle and chime that no other pup has. Or none that I've found so far. I don't know that these old USA Peavey's will ever get the respect they deserve, but I'm keeping mine. 8)
