The FIRENZA Thread!
Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
I got one of these last week - an AX in great shape. I'm very happy with it - it's a great guitar and paying less than what a decent MIM Strat goes for certainly helps.
Anyone here have the wiring diagram for the AX? Or maybe someone can post a sound clip of what the pickups sound like (clean) so I can hear if it's wired up right? So far it looks like mine is wired like the red one posted above a few months back.

Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
I lowered and ramped the nut slots on my new AX even further - the intonation is perfect, there is no more sitar-sounding open strings and it's totally in tune all the way down the neck.

Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
The new to me black AX. It's missing the rubber rings on the knobs. Peavey sent me a new trem rod for $7, shipped!
I've strung it up with 10s. The bridge is floating and the height is set so the bottom of the bridge casting is set just level with the body. I love the counter sunk bridge detail. The neck has no tilt. The Graphtec saddles needed a slight cleanup to remove minor string grooves but are great otherwise. The change from 9 to 10 strings resulted in the need for about a quarter turn of the truss rod wheel to get the action set.
Love this guitar!

Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
Well, looks like my time with my firenza is coming to an end. I picked up a couple of new guitars since buying it and it just doesn't get the amount of playtime it deserves. It's up on reverb if anyone is interested; https://reverb.com/item/4221658-peavey- ... parkle-red

Can somebody tell me whether the pickups I have in my Firenza are original or not? I tried googling for Fat 90 VB but I didn't find any information about the pickups the guitar has.
This is a pic of the underside of my p90's from my fritenza.

Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
Nice to see this thread is still going, especially since it's been over three years since I last visited. Still have my black Firenza JX, with absolutely no intention of ever selling it. I have been wondering lately whether or not I should swap out the pickups for something different, but a part of me thinks I should acquire another Firenza to do that with so that I have one original and one that I've tweaked. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I would swap the pickups for, or if I should leave them as is? Thanks!
Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
What would you expect to pay for a Firenza JX in good condition?
I had a Firenza AX a few years back and got rid of it as I wasn't playing anymore... Now I want to find one...
AS a side note if I had know what the wolfgangs would have gone for today I would have kepo mine!! Wow..
Thanks

Re: The FIRENZA Thread!
I picked up these two Firenza's over the weekend from a nice gentleman in Milwaukee:
1998 Firenza JX w/ OHSC in ivory in excellent condition
2000 Firenza Soapbar in black sparkle in very good condition
Several months ago I played red Soapbar one at a pawn shop that I liked, but it was a little beat up and they wanted top dollar for it. Until I saw that one, I had no idea about this model. I kept my eye open for the P90 version, but as you know the prices have started to creep up there - as they should - when I saw this black one on CL. I also saw that the seller had an ivory JX one for sale too, so I said why the heck not take both? So now I have an instant Peavey guitar collection, haha.
These are great, solid little guitars that are surprisingly comfortable to play.
