Your estimates were very close to what I measured with my DMM for both pickups. According to the manual this guitar should have a 5-way Superswitch and 2 Zebra Humbuckers, so I don't think the Neck is stock. I suspect it's just what the previous owner preferred.

I'm also curious if an Guru's weigh in on whether I should try to buy the original pickups, used ones go for around $50, assuming they really are the original ones from a Firenza AX. At some point I will want to put a 4 Conductor Pickup in the neck and split it. It was one of the desired features in the AX I thought I was getting, but it's not a disappointment in anyway. The guitar is in mint condition and the price I paid was a real deal.

Any stock Firenza AX owners care to weigh in on Stock vs. Aftermarket Pickups on this guitar? I also need a Trem Arm and Backplate if anyone knows what else might fit. I haven't been able to reach anyone at Peavey Parts this week so I"m guessing they don't have these parts anymore.
I have the AX. It came with the original pickups. Although it has been awhile since I played it, I had not changed the pickups out. I put some chrome accents to fit with my cosmetic upgrades, but kept them. So think they are pretty good pickups. Although pickups are totally a matter of taste.
I’ll post a picture of the guitar later today.

Firenza AX - GT

Just remembered red that I didn’t put the pickups back in correctly when I finished the project. I was going to change them so that the whites are on outside (I think that’s the original orientation) the next time I changed the strings.

Thanks for Posting the pic's and replying Darren. For mine I ended up putting Dimarzio PAF PRO in the neck and going back with a 5-Way Superswitch. I originally wired it as Bridge, Bridge Coil Split, Bridge and Neck Humbucking, Neck Single Coil and Neck HB. I wasn't totally thrilled with it that way though, it sounded a little dark to me and I didn't think I'd use the Bridge Coil Split. I also don't think this is how the original AX was wired either but I didn't know that when I wired it up the first time.

So I changed the Cap which was 0.047uf to 0.014uf and changed the Bridge Coil Split to include the Neck Coil Split together. It really sounds good to me now. I'm a rookie though, and as you say it's subjective. I also have a Peavey Predator with HH's and 5 way switch, but Dragonfire Hexbuckers in it. They sound really good too, but the coil split on the Dimarzio's sound a lot closer to Single Coils to me than the Hexbuckers do.

As FYI I was thinking of swapping the Dimarzio's in the Firenza with the Hexbuckers as they come in a Zebra Color that would look like the originals. At this point though I think I'm leaving it exactly the way it is!

If you find an AX, make sure it has the arm for the tremolo. The bridge is nice, but the arm is specific Peavey. Mine was missing and I did get one from Peavey, but good chance those parts are all gone.

Hi Darren,

The Trem arm was missing on my AX I purchased in May 21. I tried to reach Peavey about a replacement, but never got a response. However I did order one of a specific size online and it fit. I just can't recall what size it was and I can't find it right now. I'm sure it will turn up and I'll measure it and post the size here for future reference.

I took my Firenza into the local music store and tried every one they had lying around. 1 "fit" but it was loose. I measured it and ordered the next metric size up and it fit perfectly. I think it's a Gotoh Bridge and I may have referenced their website as well. Just FYI to anyone needing a new trem arm.

Regards,

Joe

That is good information. I had similar experiences. When I tried at a local music store, I couldn’t find one to fit either.

Knowing the exact size that fits is helpful.

I still haven't found my Firenza Trem but I have a 4.5mm and 5.5mm on hand. The 4.5mm is too small and 5.5mm is too large. Also I bought my Firenza on May 1st and I see I ordered this on May 7th.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084Z ... UTF8&psc=1

So not 100% verification but probably 99.9999% that 5mm Trem fits the Firenza.

I picked up a Firenza JX in September, it's perfect. It even has the plastic protector on the cavity cover. It is WAYYY lighter than my Firenza AX. I bought it for my son.

Has anyone attempted a Direct Mount on the Firenza. I also have an HP2 and am blown away. I love my Firenzas, but the HP2 has so much Mojo. The Firenza's have similar "bones". I don't want to ruin mine but I'm tempted to remove the neck finish and direct mount the pickups and see how it sounds. I'm guessing it would be pretty close to the HP2 or Wolfgang Special. I probably will never will try it, but am wondering if anyone who might own a Wolfgang has?

In 2021 I bought a Firenza AX that the original owner had replaced the Superswitch with a 3 Way. I wanted to return it to "stock" and while I think there is a hand drawn diagram somewhere here in the Forums, I never found an actual drawing of this configuration at any of the normal online places you might find one. On Friday I found a cool Freeware Drawing tool called DIYlc, and drew up what I think gives the original functionality. I'm not sure this is really how Peavey wired it up and there are several different ways to do it. This way seemed fairly easy to do and thought I would post it here for reference for other Firenza owners. Hopefully someone finds it useful.

So the Diagram I uploaded Sunday had an error. I corrected it and uploaded the new file in the post above. The only reason I'm notifying the group is 1 person downloaded the one with the error. This one has been verified to be correct. Sorry for the error/confusion.
