Mini mega amp speaker ohms

Post by Pntman72 » Wed Mar 02, 2022 4:05 pm

Can I use two 8ohm speaker cabinets ? If I can how should I connect them to the amp so it doesn't damage the amp ?

Or should I use two 4ohm speaker cabinets instead ?

Or use just one 8 ohm cab or just ude one 4 ohm cab?

My video below should help.

Two 8 ohm cabs are a 4 ohm load to the amp in PARALLEL. Plug each cab into the MM, all good.

If you connect two 4 ohm cabs directly to the MM, thats a 2 ohm and it will not work. However....

***Two 4 ohm cabs you need to build a breakout box to run the cabs in SERIES so the amp sees an 8 ohm load.

DO NOT mix a 4 ohm and 8 ohm cab. Same issue as above but at a 2.77ohm load, leading to possible amp damage. The 4 ohm would see 2/3 of the wattage and the 8 ohm 1/3 of the power. Too much stress on the amp.

Hope this info helps!!
