412 TXF Speaker Replacement

Post by Slaminger » Mon Aug 02, 2021 2:04 pm

The title pretty much says it all. One of the speakers in the top of my cabinet no longer works and so the whole top of the cab does not work. I need to know which speaker is a suitable replacement to the 12" that's in there now. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading!

What type is the bad driver, and does Peavey Parts department have them in stock?

It's a 12 inch 4 ohm speaker, but there is no writing or markings on the speaker besides maybe a product code on a sticker to identify any details. The only reason I know the drivers are 4 ohm is because of how the cabinet is wired. cabinet is 600RMS 1200 peak. It's wired in two sets of series in parallel.

it kind of looks like Peavey Sheffield 12" - 4 Ohm Speaker but I have no way to confirm, as thats a guitar speaker and this cab is for guitar or bass

I don't see them but I found one on ebay, the part where I am confused is that the tvx and txf have different power ratings, but seemingly the same speakers, as verified by matching the numbers on the stickers, and they look identical. Its a Peavey Sheffield 12" 4 Ohm it seems.

Pull the speaker and find the part# on the magnet. The speaker reference guide has the tweeter referenced but not the woofer.

If I had to guess the sheffield pro 1200 speaker item# 00577900 may be a good fit. No company seems to make 4x12 bass cabs anymore. That cab and the 412TVX topped out at 127lbs!! A hernia for sure!
