Peavey max 450 watt bass head

Post by Captain cujo » Thu Jul 29, 2021 8:52 am

Hi all.
I have just brought a second hand peavey max 450 watt bass head with TVX peavey 450 way a +b bass speakers. I read not to use standard bass leads to connect head to speakers but use speaker cables instead. Which speaker cables should I get? I do not want to damage the equipment. Ps I have always had a combo before this.

Cheers

Don't over think it. Standard guitar cords, like you use to connect the instrument to the amp, have a TINY little wire inside. A few hundred watts can melt the wire. Speaker cords have two full weight conductors inside.

Just go to the music store or online and order a speaker cord. Get it long enough for your use. It won't hurt anything to use a 30 foot cord, but if the head is going to sit on top of the speaker all its life, a short one is fine. #18 or even #16 is fine. DOn't bother with 12ga wire
