MiniMaz Issue

Post by Polyfing » Mon Jul 27, 2020 11:13 pm

Whilst initially delighted with my MiniMAX, I've noticed a peculiar issue whereby gain jumps significantly and permanently after a hard whack on one of the strings.

Just to be clear, with none of the feature switches engaged (TTBoost, Punch, Psycho Acoustic), gain is initially low and then with a pop type note on a string, the gain jumps and says there.

I'd guess there is something wrong with one of the enhancement circuits but I can't trust this amp right now so have to revert to a spare for gigs.

Any advice most welcome,
Pete

You are looking at it like the gain jumps, but perhaps it is jumping up to normal and the real issue is it starts out really diminished.

Whenever I hear of an amp jumping in gain, the first ten things I think are the FX loop jacks. Plug a spare cord from FX send to FX return and see if the amp wakes up and stays there when connected like that. If so, the return jack has internal contacts needing cleaning.
